The Lord Our Protector in Trials
Daniel’s enemies conspired against him by using his faithfulness in prayer to trap him. They convinced King Darius to sign a decree forbidding prayer to anyone except the king. Daniel, unwavering in his devotion, continued to pray to God openly. The accusers reported him, and though the king valued Daniel, he was bound by his own law to cast him into the lions’ den.
That night, God’s protection was revealed: He sent His angel to shut the lions’ mouths, and Daniel was left unharmed. At dawn, the king hurried to the den and rejoiced to find Daniel safe, giving glory to God. Daniel’s accusers, however, faced the judgment they had plotted for him.
